Photo (beware, it's rough)
Nathan is feeling marginally better in terms of his stomach issues. He is still pretty lethargic but talking a little bit and not throwing up. His head looks the same which is my main concern since he seems to be on the mend from being sick. I am not sure what to do about sending him to school this week. I would like to keep him home all week, but really don't know that it will be that much better for next Monday. I think most parent wants their kids to fit in and be part of the group and neither of these options, staying home or going to school as is are conducive to him fitting in. His normal is not conducive to fitting in so this is even worse. I don't know that he can even wear a hat because in the past, wearing a hat has hurt his head when he had a hematoma.
I took a picture so that we can see how much he is improving each day. Any suggestions on what to do about this all would be helpful! I can not wait until he is back to his happy perky self again! I miss him! Don't tell Nathan I posted pictures of him. I think he would be really upset but I wanted you all to get a visual. I should have taken a profile picture. He was upset with me taking these so I didn't want to push my luck.

Oh Nathan, you poor guy! This must hurt. :( I just want to give him a hug and a cuddle and remove this suffering.
Praying for you Nathan. Read this Psalm, it is one of my favourites.
Psalm 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Phyllis, why don't you call Nathan's teacher and get her opinion? Maybe she can prp his classmates ahead of time so they don't make him feel worse. Yes, kids can be cruel sometimes but they can also be incredibly sweet when they know someone is hurting, especially if it is a friend. At least it may make you feel better about sending him back. Hugs! Jan
OMG! Nathan looks so pitiful! I could just cry for him and for you, too. And as if the hematoma wasn't enough, a stomach bug on top of it. Unfair to say the least! Guess we should just try to be grateful that at least there is no fracture.
I want to second the suggestion from "Jan" above, re: school. In the course of several years of volunteering at the UCP preshool I have seen so many very touching examples of how children can help and support each other if adults point the way. I would only add that you might want to let Nathan participate in the decision re: when he is ready to go back to school, if you think he could handle that.
Thinking about all of you and hoping everybody is feeling better by now. Glad Grandma is there to help.
