Tales from the infirmary

Nathan has been slowly getting better but is still not back to himself.  His hematoma is still large but he looks so much better now that his eyes are no longer swollen.  It is more defined and appears more like a hematoma, just as big but less scary.  Maybe we are just getting used to how it looks.  His last throwing up episode was Friday night.  He is not eating much at all, which is frustrating; however, he is perky and spends more time each day off the couch.  He has come to the dinner table lately and even played a few games of Zingo last night.  I am not sure that he will be ready for school yet tomorrow (today is MLK day so they have off school).

Bennett is now showing signs of illness as well.  He threw up twice last night and today is walking around with a bucket saying he is going to throw up.  He has not yet today but has had other tummy problems (sorry TMI).  It is not looking good for him either although he is more perky than Nathan was at the beginning stage.  Of course Nathan also had a hematoma at the same time.  I took off work on Thursday and it is looking like I won't get there tomorrow either.  I really enjoy going to work.  It is kind of my escape and when I don't go, I get kind of funky but I know this will pass.

My dear friend Kate graciously invited Libby on their family weekend away for a gymnastics meet.  Uncle Jon and Aunt Kate have two girls who are ten and eight years old.  Libby appears to be having a great time swimming at the hotel waterpark!  She had a headache on and off all week so it seems like she might be fighting something.  She wanted badly to have a fever and was convinced that 97.8 is almost a fever.  Then she decided that if she took her temperature under the other arm, she might have a fever because that side of her was hotter.  I hope we have not totally infected their entire family with our illness!

I was going stir crazy by Friday and started moving furniture and starting home improvement projects.  On Saturday I had to get out for the day, just to stop worrying about Nathan's symptoms and lack of appetite.  I was so happy to be out and about!  Lets be real, waiting on and worrying about sick kids is exhausting!  I hope Bennett's illness is much shorter in duration so we can get back to our normal.

I have to share a short conversation I had with Nathan last night because it is shows he is feeling better and it is so Mark.  Its so cute when you see your spouse in your kids!

Nathan, I'm going upstairs but I'll be back down in a few minutes.
Why?
Why am I going upstairs or why am I coming back down?
No, Why are you telling me?

I just thought it was so funny and means he is getting back to his normal self!

And in closing, here are two pictures from MeMaws vist when she was fixing some of our blankets for us.  These will be some of my favorite pictures of all times!
